Andrew Desjardins: From Lively to the NHL
Early Life and Career
Andrew Desjardins was born on July 27, 1986, in Lively, Ontario. He played minor hockey in the Lively Minor Hockey Association before moving on to junior hockey with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). In his final season with the Wolves, Desjardins was named team captain and helped lead them to the OHL Championship game.
NHL Career
Desjardins made his NHL debut with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2011. He played four seasons with the Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2013. After leaving Chicago, Desjardins also played for the San Jose Sharks, Buffalo Sabres, and Los Angeles Kings.
International Career
Desjardins represented Canada at the 2014 World Championships, where he won a silver medal.
Current Status
Desjardins is currently playing for EC VSV in the ICE Hockey League. He has had a successful career in Europe, winning the Austrian Championship in 2021.
